reflections of freshers week
so this week i was thinking about how different mmu is from sdsu. Besides being in a bigger city, the night life is insane along with the general thinking about drinking. SDSU wont call school of due to weather because they dont want all the students out there drinking but freshers week is totally all about drinking. i'm far from the new freshman away from home for the first time and drinking as much as possible as often as possible. i've witnessed an irish kid drink straight vodka from a glass like a thirsty person would chug cold water. (i normally only use my new ability to buy and consume alcohol when we go to the pub to hang out and have a few drinks) mmu apparently wants the students to drink a ton because there are no classes this week and people stand around campus handing out party flyers (which i'm now using to decorate my room) and theres even a night club above the student union. Free party buses drive around the city providing alcohol and a ride to more places with alcohol. holy alcoholics heaven.

Surprise awesomeness
So today was kind of interesting.. MMU is the most messed up place on the planet. They expect you to get tickets for everything you do but dont tell you that you need them until the deadline is past.. well whatever.. we ended up getting tickets for this bbq thing in a park. All we were told was that there was a bbq in a park and a dance. We were sold on the bbq but werent really in the mood to shake our groove thing.. so we went for the food and it ended up being the coolest thing ever! we got to tour a 17th century mansion (the british idea of a tour is letting you walk through it wondering what the hell is going on). It was in tatton park i think so if you wanna google it.. dooooo it! and the garden and grounds were MILES long! so we set off exploring with no idea of how long we were going to be there and when the food was being served or anything.. so that was interesting but the dance sucked.. i'll be adding pictures soon!

First Day in Manchester
Well i made it! woot! or not woot.. whatev. So the flights were fine. I left omaha at 12 noon on sunday and didnt sleep until monday at 2am uk time. So emotions were a little raw when we saw our less than stellar living conditions.. the lady told us that we had to use a bath to bathe :S However, we found showers later. Right now we feel kinda disconnected from the world but its getting better as we just ordered our cell phones :D. We discovered the UK version of walmart called ASDA today which was interesting. But at least well be able to have a few essentials and not live like the barbarians we are. just kidding. but seriously. and this is about all the info I have right now folks! hopefully i do something really interesting soon so you dont feel like you wasted your time reading this!
